Local Authority Building Standards Scotland (LABSS)
LABSS is a member organisation serving the public interest by bringing over 500 building standards professionals together working across all Scottish Local Authorities.
LABSS are central to the national decision making process and deliver consistency of service through their Information Paper, Scottish Type Approval Scheme (STAS) and Dispute Resolution Process products which are managed and administered by the Scottish Building Standards Hub (SBSH).
Our national network of building standards surveyors deliver building standards services locally. We are impartial and here to protect you and your project.

LABSS seek to provide information and guidance to verifiers, designers and the public that is consistent and determined nationally through LABSS Consortia Technical Working Group. These generally encompass topics where questions have been asked with respect to the meaning behind particular standards and where potential disputes have arisen both within the building standards profession and in discussions with applicants, relevant persons etc. LABSS information papers are managed and administered by the SBSH.
LABSS seek to resolve disputes in regulatory interpretation and/or procedural matters through LABSS Dispute Resolution Process and Consortia Technical Working Group networks. LABSS Dispute Resolution Process is managed and administered by the SBSH.
