Architectural Technology, Building Performance and Timber Architectural Design

Edinburgh Napier University

The construction sector is focusing more closely on new construction technologies, building performance and low carbon timber design. In response to these changes, Edinburgh Napier University has new funding support available for those wishing to specialise and undertake an MSc on:

  • MSc Architectural Technology & Building Performance (full time or part time study)
  • MSc Timber Architectural Design and Technology (Part time study)

The programmes commence in September 2019

The two programmes have funding support available to pay 50% to 75% of the MSc fees. For those returning to work after a career break or who are unemployed the support funding may be up to 100% of the MSc fees.

The fees support is via the Edinburgh & South East Scotland City Region Deal (HCI Advanced Skills programme) and is funded by the Scottish Government inclusive growth initiative. The funding is available for applicants from throughout Scotland; we particularly welcome applications from the South East Scotland City Region Deal area (Fife, Edinburgh, Lothians and Borders).

Both programmes are suitable for architects, technical directors, architectural technologists, local authority staff, building standards officer, construction product manufacturers and construction sector professionals. The programmes have key content related to construction innovation, offsite construction, building performance, future emissions reductions, circular economy, sustainability and technical standards.

To support inclusive growth and diversity of the future workforce 60% of the funded places are available to female applicants.

Both programmes have key expert teaching staff drawn from the award-winning Institute for Sustainable Construction and the CIAT Centre of Excellence for Architectural Technology based within School of Engineering & Built Environment.
