Ministerial View issued for the use of intumescent cavity barrier in external wall cavity at the first floor junction in a two-storey dwelling

Technical ContextThe proposed building is a new build two storey dwelling house. The construction of the walls are roughcast, 100mm blockwork, 50mm cavity and timber frame (breather membrane, OSB, timber studs/insulation, vapour barrier, plasterboard). It is proposed that an expanding intumescent ‘ventilated’ cavity barrier be used at the junction of the ground and first storey.
